Streets Commissioner: Rough Winter Forced Trash Trucks Into The Repair Shop

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – City officials say that due to this winter's extreme weather, an unusually high number of trash tracks are out of service for repairs.

Streets Commissioner David Perri says that the department regrets the inconvenience, but the delays are expected to continue over the next few weeks while repairs continue to be made.

He also adds that during snowstorms, about 1/3 of the trucks that do the plowing are trash trucks outfitted with plows.

Residents should still put their trash out on the regularly scheduled day. Anything not collected on that day will be picked up the following one.
