Sexual Assault Investigated At Rowan's New Freshman, Sophomore Dorm For Second Time This Semester

GLASSBORO, N.J. (CBS) -- For the second time this semester a sexual assault has been reported at Rowan University's new freshman and sophomore dorm.

Tuesday afternoon, the campus sent out a message saying a female student reported going to a male student's room, falling asleep and waking up to being sexually assaulted. Neither the female victim, nor the alleged male suspect, have been identified.

The incident reportedly happened Sunday night into Monday morning at the Holly Pointe Commons, the same dorm where another sexual assault was reported in October.

University spokesman Joe Cardona says the victim in the first incident decided not to pursue charges.

The current incident is under investigation and University Associate Director of Counseling Services Amy Hoch says students should feel confident reporting sexual assaults.

"We really hope that students will feel like this is not something that people will brush under the rug. This is taken seriously, an investigation will happen, counseling will happen, and we know the earlier we can do that the better students will actually be," says Hoch.
