8 Students Injured In School Bus Crash In Delaware

NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS) -- Eight students and a driver were injured when a school bus and another vehicle crashed in New Castle, Delaware, Thursday morning.

It happened near New Castle Avenue and Memorial Drive, just after 8 a.m.

According to police, the driver of a 2008 Porsche Cayenne attempted to make a left turn when it struck the school bus.

The bus was transporting 17 students to New Castle Elementary at the time of the crash. Eight of those students were taken to A.I DuPont Hospital For Children and treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the Porsche was also treated for minor injuries at Christiana Hospital. He was cited for not yielding to oncoming traffic.

The road was closed for about two hours while police investigated and has since reopened.
