Ryan Mathews Placed On Non-Football Injury List With Bad Ankle

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Already?

Philadelphia Eagles running back Ryan Mathews was placed on the active/non-football injury list after suffering an ankle injury last week, the team announced on Wednesday.

Mathews, 28, has a long injury history dating back to college. He only played a full 16 games in one of his six NFL seasons. However, in each of the two seasons where Mathews has received 200-plus carries, he has rushed for over 1,000 yards.

Mathews, the 12th overall pick in the 2010 draft, averaged 5.0 yards per carry last season -- ninth best in the NFL. He finished 2015, his first season with the Eagles, with 539 yards on 106 carries and 20 catches for 146 yards scoring seven total touchdowns.
