Rumors: 'Several Coaches Expect Chip Kelly To Go Back To College'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- They're coming, they're coming, they're coming. They're here.

The Chip Kelly "back-to-college" rumors, of course.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports, "several coaches expect him to hit the eject seat button after this season and return to college before his stock continues to drop given the horrible roster he has in San Francisco."

Kelly is 1-5 in his first season with the 49ers, who are ranked dead last in the NFL in yards per game (292.8). Kelly left Oregon in 2013 to join the Philadelphia Eagles, but was fired after gaining personnel control and going 6-9 in his third season.

La Canfora writes that schools like LSU, Texas, Oregon, and Penn State could have interest in names like Jon Gruden, Sean Payton, and Kelly. La Canfora specifically connects Penn State, who is currently 4-2 under third-year head coach James Franklin, to Steelers offensive line coach Mike Munchak.
