Ruptured Gas Line Causes Commuting Headaches In South Jersey

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (CBS) -- A ruptured gas line caused headaches for some South Jersey commuters this morning.
Natural gas was spewing into the air, where New Jersey DOT repaving crews ruptured a two-inch main on eastbound Route 70 at Curtis Avenue around 12:30 a.m.
PSE&G said evacuations were not necessary, though, because there was no danger the unpressurized gas in the air would explode.
While crews dug up the busy highway, eastbound lanes were closed at Grove Street and westbound traffic was squeezed down to a single lane for much of the morning rush.
The gas line was ruptured as part of an ongoing resurfacing project on Route 70.
