Review: P.Y.T.

By Glen Macnow

Score: 6.25
Price: For $12 we got a PYT Burger – beef patty, cheddar, bacon, sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion.
Location: The Piazza in Philly.

Lots of gimmicks here if you're looking. They've got a "TV Dinner" burger made out of Salisbury steak and crammed (along with peas and carrots) between two deep-fried mashed-potato buns. They've got a double-cheeseburger burger where the entire bun is made from inter-weaved bacon. Of such are my dreams.

But we're judging here on the basic, which was the PYT burger – all the regular items plus PYT Sauce, which sure seemed indistinguishable from 1,000 Island dressing. And the basic burger was flavorful, tender – and undersized. It got kind of lost in that huge brioche roll they put it in. C'mon PYT, give me my money's worth.

I enjoyed the Anderson Valley Winter Solstice Ale for $6. One more thing: PYT could use a good scrubdown and maybe a fresh coat of paint. Looking a little dingy on a recent Sunday night.
