Pres. Obama's Approval Rating Drops To All-time Low In New Jersey

TRENTON, NJ (CBS) – Bad news for President Obama. His job rating in New Jersey has hit an all-time low, mainly because of a decline in approval from women.

According to a new Monmouth University/Asbury Park Press Poll, 45% of New Jersey adults approve of the job President Obama is doing, while 50% disapprove.

And among registered voters in the state, just 41% approve compared to 54% who disapprove. That's the president's lowest rating since he took office in January 2009.

The poll also marks the first time women in the Garden State have a net negative approval rating of Obama. Fifty-percent of the state's women currently disapprove of the job Pres. Obama is doing, compared to 46% who didn't approve back in June.

"The bottom line is that a decidedly negative shift among women has brought the president's job rating to an all-time low in New Jersey," said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute, in a release.

The latest poll was conducted via telephone with 802 New Jersey adults, including 680 registered voters, between Sept. 17-21, 2014. The margin of error is +/- 3.5 percent.
