Portion Of I-78 Closed Due To Tractor-Trailer Fire In Hamburg

BERKS COUNTY, Pa. (CBS) - Crews are responding to a tractor-trailer fire in Berks County, that has shut down a portion of I-78.

It happened on I-78 westbound in Hamburg, around 8 a.m. Monday.

The highway was closed in both directions from Route 61 to Route 143 but the eastbound lanes have since reopened. The westbound side has since reopened.

Police say the 30-year-old driver lost control and hit a bridge abutment and the center median, then the truck burst into flames.

The driver was able to escape unharmed.
