Police: Store Owner Shoots, Kills Alleged Robber In South Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say a store owner shot and killed a man trying to rob his South Philadelphia corner store this morning.

Investigators are now at Miss Jesse's Stop and Shop at 12th and Christian.

Police say three men tried to rob the store at around 8:30 Monday morning. According to the preliminary police report, the store owner shot and killed one of the men.

Authorities then took a 22-year-old man into custody, but say another suspect got away.

Investigators recovered two weapons.

Police say area schools were temporarily placed on lockdown.
