Police Pursuit Ends In Crash After Officer Is Dragged

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police say what started as a car stop quickly became a police pursuit that ended in a crash- with a police officer injured.

Officials say it happened in the Frankford section of the city at around 8:30 pm Wednesday.

Police stopped the vehicle which was reported stolen.  The driver then took off and dragged an officer halfway down the block.

Officials say another police officer saw it all happen and pursued the vehicle, where it ultimately crashed into another car at 1900 Pratt.

The suspect was treated for minor injuries and has been charged with Assault on a Police Officer.

The officer sustained a laceration on his right hand and injuries to his right shoulder and his back.  His partner transported him to the hospital where he's expected to be treated and then released.
