Police: Man Found Shot Inside Car Along Route 42 In Camden County

RUNNEMEDE, N.J. (CBS) -- A man is dead after being found shot inside a vehicle along the highway in Camden County, New Jersey.

Troopers responded to a call around 2:30 a.m. Saturday and discovered a man inside a car along Route 42 in Runnemede. Police say he had been shot several times.

Authorities say the victim was driving southbound on Route 42 when an unknown vehicle pulled alongside his car and fired several rounds into the vehicle.

The victim then crashed off the side of the highway.

The victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not immediately released.

Police are searching for the shooter.
