Police: Man Fatally Shot In Front Of Family In Kensington

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A man was gunned down right in front of his family last night in Kensington.

Police say the victim was just steps away from his front door on Howard Street when a gunman approached and pulled the trigger.

"He was standing on the sidewalk, with other family members, when the shooter walked up to him from point blank range -- very close proximity -- and fired six shots."

Chief Inspector Scott Small says a Verizon worker who was nearby picked up the 32-year-old victim and brought him to the hospital.

"This man was shot multiple times, in his face his neck and his chest. He was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m. at Episcopal Hospital."

Small says it appears the motive for the shooting was drug related.
