Police Investigating Possible Assault At SEPTA's Market East Station

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police are on the scene investigating a possible assault at SEPTA's Market East Station.

The alleged incident happened around 1:20 p.m. Monday afternoon at 10th and Filbert at SEPTA's Jefferson Station.

Authorities say a woman apparently came up to the SEPTA concourse area and notified another passenger she had been attacked. Officials say she appeared to have been beaten and she was rushed to a nearby hospital and treated.

Investigators are combing through surveillance video, trying to figure out if there was any evidence that was captured on tape.

Sources say it appears the woman went down into the station with another man willingly into a secluded area near the tracks and she was not apparently a passenger waiting on a train.

The investigation is ongoing.
