Police: Camden County Officers Kill Man Who Aimed Gun At Them

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — Police say two officers in Camden have shot and killed a man after he aimed a gun at them.

Camden County Police spokesman Dan Keashen says the man was suicidal and intentionally prompted officers to shoot him. The confrontation happened around 11:20 p.m. Friday in the Cramer Hill neighborhood.

Keashen says officers responded to a call of a man threatening to kill himself and police. He says shortly after police located the man's vehicle, the man approached officers with a gun aimed at them. Keashen says two officers fired their weapons, killing him. He says a loaded handgun was recovered from the man's hand.

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office and the Attorney General's Office will investigate the shooting.

Keashen says the unidentified officers involved will be placed on administrative duty.
