Police: 2 New Jersey Officers Hit By Car, Injured

CLIFFSIDE PARK, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey police say two officers were on foot in Cliffside Park when they were hit by a car in the suburban New York City borough.

A Cliffside Park police lieutenant says the two are special police officers and were struck Saturday night. He says one was seriously injured, while the other's injuries were not serious.

NJ Advance Media reported that the driver was being questioned.

The Cliffside Park lieutenant said he had no further details, but added: "It's a little bit rough for us right now."

Thousands of police from across the country had earlier attended the funeral of Rafael Ramos, one of two New York City officers shot execution-style by a man as they were sitting in their patrol car last week. The man then committed suicide.
