Phillies Place Maikel Franco On Disabled List With Wrist Fracture

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Phillies third-baseman Maikel Franco is headed for the 15-day disabled list the team announced on Tuesday.

Franco is suffering from a fractured left wrist. To take his place on the roster, the Phillies have recalled outfielder Aaron Altherr from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

The absence will be a blow to the lineup as Franco is batting .277 on the season with 82 hits and 48 RBIs in 296 at bats.

Franco last played on August 11 when he was forced out of a game early after suffering the wrist injury after getting hit by a pitch.
