Phillies Trade For Howie Kendrick, Send Ruf, Sweeney To Dodgers

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies announced a trade on Friday afternoon that will send a pair of players out west.

The Phillies have agreed to send first baseman Darin Ruf and second baseman Darnell Sweeney to the L.A. Dodgers in exchange for veteran OF/INF Howie Kendrick.

According to CBSSports, Kendrick was reportedly not pleased with the playing time that he was receiving in L.A. Kendrick will add a veteran presence to the Phillies, who could fill in at almost any open spot in the outfield and infield.

Kendrick has 11 years of MLB experience. In 2016, he batted .255 with eight home runs in 487 at-bats.

He was named an All-Star in 2011. For his career, he is a .289 hitter with 297 doubles, 34 triples, 95 home runs and 595 RBI's. He also swiped 111 stolen bases.

Kendrick, 33, has spent his entire career playing in L.A., spending time with the Angels (2006-14) and Dodgers (2015-16).
