Dry, mild weather in Philadelphia area on Wednesday, tracking storm chances for Eagles game Thursday
Wednesday morning's weather is comfortable with bits of patchy fog around the Philadelphia area. The day will be mild and dry with low humidity as daytime highs approach 80 degrees.
By Thursday, a cold front slides in from the northwest, and the timing will be the difference maker.
Thursday evening's forecast for the Eagles is looking a bit dicey. Showers and a few rumbles of thunder will approach by around 7 p.m., and areas just west of the city are now under a marginal risk for severe weather, with possible lightning and damaging winds.
The first showers and storms should clear relatively quickly, but there will likely be at least shower and T-storm chances during the game.
Showers may linger into Friday with a few more popping up during the afternoon/evening hours on both Friday and Saturday, but widespread significant impacts are not expected.
We'll dry things out for Sunday to Tuesday, then track another weather maker by mid-next week.
As we head into the peak of hurricane season, the tropics are showing signs of heating up a bit. There is one area of interest in the Atlantic, which the National Hurricane Center estimates has a 70% of development into a tropical cyclone over the next seven days. If that storm becomes named, it will be Gabrielle.
