Philadelphia Tourism Agency Creates Scenic Photo Ops For Visiting Tourists

By Justin Udo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia's end-user tourism marketing agency is launching a new campaign aimed at getting people excited about the city and to pass that excitement along to others.

Meryl Levitz, the head of Visit Philadelphia, says they are putting "pop-up" photo spots at six locations around the city.

The photogenic props include giant XOXO letters (one of Visit Philly's marketing logos), a bicycle-built-for-three mounted on a stand, and oversized Adirondack chairs.

"We want visitors, just as they're doing now, to be tweeting, instagramming, and posting about their trip," Levitz tells KYW Newsradio.   "While you're out on your visit, let people know what you're doing and that you are having a good time!"

And she says they want people to tweet their pictures to her organization, too, using the hashtag #visitphilly.

"This way our team is able to track their visit and help them do more by saying, 'Oh, good, here's a restaurant you might like' or a neighborhood festival that's just two blocks away, so that we can extend their stay and their impact."

The campaign runs through September, and you can find the locations of the pop-up photo structures on the Visit Philly web site.
