PATCO Begins Leaf Season Schedule

LINDENWOLD, N.J. (AP) — PATCO trains have started operating on a leaf season schedule.

Leaves start falling on the tracks in October and are crushed by the trains, creating an oily residue on the tracks. Trains take longer to accelerate and stop as a result.

Starting Thursday, trains between Lindenwold and Philadelphia will run at slightly reduced speeds. Planned Thursday and Friday track outages on the Ben Franklin Bridge will be suspended and will take place on weekends instead.

The leaf season schedule will be in effect until early December.
