Fire Marshal Working To Determine Cause Of Fatal Delaware Motel Fire

NEW CASTLE COUNTY, Del. (CBS) --  The Delaware State Fire Marshal is trying to determine what started a fatal fire at the Budget Motor Lodge, located at 145 South DuPont Highway.

According to the Fire Marshal's Office, crews arrived to the motel at around 5 this evening and saw smoke coming from one of the rooms.

Firefighters were able to get inside and found one person had died.

A medical examiner must still positively identify the victim, due to extensive injuries, at an autopsy scheduled for Friday.

Authorities say no other guests or motel staff were hurt, and people were able to return to their rooms at around 9 p.m.

 

This fire remains under investigation.
