Old City Nativity Scene Comes Alive Once Again
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Bad weather over the weekend didn't stop the arrival of real life animals to a nativity scene in Old City.
It has been a popular Christmas tradition in Philadelphia for over four decades. Gail Daly has been stopping by, she says, for 35 of them.
"It's quiet," she tells KYW Newsradio. "I think a lot of people come down here and think of what Christmas really is."
In front of the manger scene outside Old First Reformed United Church of Christ at 4th and Race Streets, actual animals roam around in hay.
Jenna Angerstein passes by often:
"It's beautiful and it's such a nice thing to be in the middle of the city and be able to see the farm animals out."
As for the particular animals that caught her eye...
"All of them," she says. "I love the two donkeys and the baby goats especially."
There's also two lambs and baby cow.
