More Than 40 Arrested In Del. As Part Of Heroin Ring Bust

NEWARK, DEL. (CBS) – Officials in Delaware say they've arrested or indicted more than 40 people on drug trafficking charges.

The multi-jurisdictional sweep, dubbed "Operation Son Sun," began in Dec. 2013 and finished on Nov. 25, 2014. It reportedly targeted the illegal drug trafficking organization headed by 31-year-old Andrew Lloyd and 29-year-old Jarrell Brown, both of Newark.

Lloyd has been charged with directing a large heroin network in Wilmington.

Operation Son Sun reportedly involved the execution of 17 search warrants at different residences throughout New Castle County. As a result of the sweep, numerous items were seized, including 416 grams of heroin, 25 grams of crack cocaine, 10 grams of methamphetamine, 2426 grams of marijuana, seven handguns and ammunition, two cars and more than $30,000 in cash.

In addition to Lloyd and Brown, more than 40 others were also arrested and charged for various drug offenses.
