More Americans Are Saving For Retirement

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The advice is taking hold, Americans are finally saving for retirement.

Retirement could be a bit easier now that more of us are saving some extra cash for those golden years, according to a new survey by Bankrate.com.

Greg McBride, the company's chief financial analyst, says it's a sign the economy is improving, with more people back in the work force.

"We find that more Americans are saving more for retirement and fewer aren't saving at all. 21% of Americans are saving more for retirement this year than they did last year, that's the best that we've seen in anytime in the past five years," said McBride.

He says workers between 36 and 51 are socking away the most for retirement these days, with those in and just out of college right behind.
