Metallica Praises Young Philly Drummer

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A young Philadelphia drummer is receiving high praise from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Metallica.

Metallica issued a challenge to its fans to submit videos of covers of their favorite track from the band's latest album "Hardwired... To Self Destruct."

Ten-year-old Daniel Krilov of Holmesburg accepted the challenge. He posted a cover of the song "Atlas Rise" to his Instagram account @djkdrums.

"Because it is my favorite song on the album and it's my favorite song because I can play it with one bass petal. I don't have two bass petals," Daniel said.

The band shared the video on its own Instagram page with the caption "nice work dude."

"I couldn't believe it I thought I was dreaming," Daniel explained.

The post now has more than 320,000 views. Daniel later posted a thank you to the band.

"Thank you Metallica for sharing my video. I will never forget this day. I got a lot of new followers and metal friends today. I hope you come to Philly next year so I can see you live," he said.

Daniel, a student at the School of Rock, has been playing the drums for two years. He says they are his favorite because they are loud and cool.
