Mayor Kenney Expands Twitter Chats To Engage Philadelphians Everywhere

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- As part of an ongoing effort to increase government accessibility, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney will expand the "Ask Kenney" Twitter chats across several different media.

The #AskKenney Twitter chats began when he was running for mayor, and just one month into his term, Kenney has announced he will be expanding the chats.

"We're thinking of ways that the mayor could be able to chat with people and just really be accessible to people," says Stephanie Waters, the mayor's digital director. "We came up with a bunch of different ways and the reason why Twitter was one of them is just because that just what the mayor really likes doing and that's what he's known for."

The #AskKenney Twitter chat will take place Friday between 3 and 4 pm.

"If anyone tweets with the #AskKenney, we'll find it," Waters says. "We're collecting them now, and then during the Twitter chat we'll continue to collect them."

Mayor Kenney will also be answering Philadelphians' questions on the city public access TV channel 64, WURD-AM Radio and in various neighborhood newspapers every month.
