LeSean McCoy Gets John Wanamaker Athletic Award

By Paul Kurtz

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After being named the 2014 recipient of the John Wanamaker Athletic Award back in May, Philadelphia Eagles' all-pro running back LeSean McCoy picked up his trophy today in a ceremony at Macy's Crystal Tea Room.

McCoy shared the stage with the legend he has replaced, Brian Westbrook (at right in photo).

"He's that big brother to me," McCoy said today. "He taught me to work hard, to be a star in the NFL.  Thanks, BWest."

And McCoy choked up when he spoke about his real family: his older brother, his mother, and his father.

"I didn't want to be like my dad because he was an athlete -- it had nothing to do with that.  I wanted to be like my dad because he was a real man," McCoy said.

This is likely the last of the many 2013 season accolades to be collected by McCoy, who says he is now looking ahead to the start of training camp in a couple of weeks.
