KYW Flashback: Fired Nurse Opens Fire In Montgomery County

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - A deranged former nurse at the Norristown State Hospital was out for revenge.

It was 1999 and Denis Czajkowski returned to the hospital where he was recently fired. Waving a replica civil war revolver, he began a two-day hostage siege.

KYW later learned that a police sharpshooter had a clear shot in the first hours of the standoff, but the order to fire was withheld.
