'Game of Thrones' Halftime Honors During This Weekend's Penn State Game

By Michael Cerio

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Stephen Colbert, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Seth Myers all attended Northwestern University. None of them though deal in dragons like George R. R. Martin.

Winter comes early this weekend as the Game of Thrones author will be honored at halftime of the Northwestern – Penn State game in Evanston, Illinois. Martin graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern in 1970, which will put him in the Medill Hall Of Achievement for the school earlier in the week.

Northwestern's Wildcat Marching Band is also scheduled to perform a selection of Game of Thrones music from the TV show during the ceremony at halftime, which could mean some fire-breathing formations from the brass section.

When you play the Game of Thrones you win or you die. For Penn State you win or have three loses on the season. Sounds about the same.

Kickoff is at noon on Saturday.
