Firefighter Dies After Fighting Fatal North Wildwood Blaze

NORTH WILDWOOD, NJ (CBS) – Officials say a firefighter has died following a blaze inside a home in North Wildwood that also killed one other person.

Art Treon, a firefighter since 1970, reportedly died at Cape Regional Medical Center after fighting the blaze at a home on W 17th Street. Treon is said to have suffered chest pains and was apparently pronounced dead at Cape Regional Medical Center on Wednesday.

Town Bank Fire Co.Station Sixty One in North Cape May announced Treon's passing on its Facebook page on Friday:

"It is with deepest sympathy we announce the passing of one of our own, Former Chief and President Arthur Treon. Our Prayers go out to the Treon Family in this sad time. Art was a great man who place others needs before his own. Art you will always be in our hearts and minds, Rest In Piece Chief."

Firefighters at the scene on Tuesday night were also unable to rescue one person from inside the home. That person's remains were later discovered.
