Fire Damages South Jersey Church

PENNSAUKEN, NJ (CBS) -- Fire broke out at a South Jersey church building that's been standing for more than a century.

The promise at the Temple of Praise Ministries Church on River Road is to do the repairs and whatever is needed to get the church, and 120-year-old building in shape again for worship.

Seon Adams, the pastor's grandson, says the fire may have left damage, including broken windows, but their faith remains intact.

"The church is pretty much inside the hearts of the people. The building is just a house where we are, but I guess as long as God lives inside of you, you are the church. Your body is a temple."

Firefighters arrived close to midnight and officials say they contained the flames to the basement.

There is smoke and fire damage in the church, but it's still structurally sound, officials say.

No one was inside at the time, and no one was hurt fighting the fire.

As for Sunday services, Adams says if need be, they'll have them here outside of the building.
