Coronavirus Latest: FDA Lifting Restrictions For Blood Donations From Gay Men Due To Short Supply

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Blood has been in short supply because of canceled donation drives during the coronavirus pandemic, but now, the FDA is lifting some restrictions. Gay men will now be allowed to give blood three months after the last time they had sex.

Previous guidelines were one year.

That three-month waiting period will also apply to those with new tattoos or piercings.
