Eight Remain Hospitalized Following Deadly Amtrak Derailment In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Temple University Hospital has a released an update regarding the patients from Tuesday night's deadly Amtrak train derailment in Philadelphia's Frankford section.

Eight victims of the horrific crash are still receiving treatment, a hospital spokesman said Sunday.

Of those eight people, three remain in critical condition.

Doctors said previously that they expected all of the patients in critical condition to survive their injuries.

Temple Hospital is the trauma center where many of the most severely injured were taken immediately following the crash.

Eight people were killed and hundreds were injured when the train travelling from Washington D.C. To New York went off the tracks while rounding a curve at Frankford Junction.

The cause of the derailment is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and the FBI.
