More Charges Likely In Nicetown-Tioga Police Shootout That Injured 6 Officers, DA Larry Krasner Says
PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) - Authorities say more charges are likely to be filed in last week's standoff and shooting in the city's Nicetown-Tioga section that injured six police officers. Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner warned Monday that the investigation into the "factually complicated case" could take months to complete due to the extensive amount of evidence that must be reviewed.
The suspect, 36-year-old Maurice Hill, was arraigned on Saturday. Hill is accused of barricading himself inside a house and shooting six police officers, who were serving a drug warrant, during an hourslong standoff last Wednesday. The six officers were released after being treated at hospitals Wednesday night.

Forensic investigators spent several days at the scene on the 3700 block of North 15th Street. Much of their time was spent prying bullets from walls and trying to account for each of the 100-plus rounds that were discharged during the standoff.
There is also another huge part of the investigation interviewing officers and witnesses, and reviewing security, cellphone and body camera footage.
Krasner announced Monday during a press conference that Hill is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment of another person, unlawful restraint, causing or risking a catastrophe and possession of an instrument of crime, among other charges.
"Every person in the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office and I understands this city is reeling from what happened last week. This is not just a factually complicated case, but it's a case that is still under investigation. It is an investigation that we need and we will get right in partnership with our fellow law enforcement agencies," Krasner said.
Krasner added that this case could take some time to put together.
"It could take months but it will be done correctly and so I want you here today and the public to know that we might not be in the news talking about the investigation all the time but we are continuing to work to build this case so it can be brought to court," Krasner explained.
Four other suspects in this case are facing narcotics charges, including possession with the intent to deliver, conspiracy, possession of drugs and paraphernalia charges.
Some of the narcotics found at the scene were barbiturates and marijuana, Krasner said.
Hill has a preliminary hearing set for Sept. 5.
