Neighbors: Siblings Killed In Overnight House Fire In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A rowhome fire left two people dead in North Philadelphia overnight.

When firefighters got to the burning rowhome on West Toronto Street, right off Broad Street, at midnight, Deputy Fire Commissioner Jesse Wilson says they found two people inside.

"Unfortunately, tragedy befell North Central Philadelphia this morning and we have two confirmed fire deaths," said Wilson.

Wilson says one of the victims died in the house, the other was taken to the hospital where he died. Neighbors say it was a brother and sister who had been living on this block for years.

It took a half hour to place the fire under control, no one else was hurt, the other homes here were not evacuated.

It's not clear if there were working alarms in the house.
