Police: 29-Year-Old Woman Struck By Multiple Vehicles, Killed On Route 1 In Middletown Township

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- Middletown Township police say a 29-year-old woman was killed after being struck by numerous vehicles while walking on Route 1, early Monday morning. Police say none of the vehicles stayed at the scene.

Sources tell CBS3 an arm and hand found on the side of the road in Philadelphia's Fox Chase neighborhood belonged to the victim. A passerby located the remains on the 8800 block of Pine Road, around 8:40 a.m.

Police say the hit-and-runs happened in the southbound lanes of Route 1, between Township Road and the Neshaminy exit, just before 3:30 a.m.

Police closed off all lanes between Route 413 in ‪Middletown Township and Rockhill Drive in Bensalem for hours to conduct the investigation and clean up the roadway. 

Police say the woman was either walking along Route 1 or attempting to cross the highway when she was struck.

Her identity has not been released.
