Celek: Players Will 'Do Anything' For Chip, Tebow 'Not A Distraction'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The most polarizing sports figure in the NFL, maybe in the country right now, is Philadelphia Eagles head coach.

While many analysts and media personalities have criticized Kelly for overhauling the Eagles' roster in his first offseason as general manager, eight-year Eagles tight-end Brent Celek defended his coach.

"I think Coach Kelly, he understands what he wants on his team and he's gonna get that," Celek told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show on Wednesday. "I think a lot of the guys on this team, they respect that, and they'll do anything for him.

"I just love how, when things don't work with Chip, he'll find a way to fix them and he moves on. And there's no---I don't know how to say it. He just makes the change and goes."

Kelly has created a unique culture, as he heads into his third season as head coach. Celek, one of the longest tenured Eagles players, fits Kelly's culture perfectly as he continues to help groom the younger, and arguably more talented tight-end, Zach Ertz.

"Listen, I've been here for a long time," Celek admitted humbly. "I understand that you get older and things can change and you can't fight it. You just gotta go with it and that's a part of life. Whatever happens, happens. I'll be happy with whatever it is. I've been able to live my dream for eight years, going on nine now. Nothing is gonna hurt me."

If Kelly is the most polarizing sports figure in football, Tim Tebow is a close second. On Monday, the Eagles signed Tebow to a one-year deal. Celek says it won't effect the culture.

"I think the media makes it more of that than it is for us in the locker room," Celek said. "We still go out to work every single day. It's not a distraction to us at all. It's only in the media and a lot of that stuff we don't listen to."
