Car-Free Streets Coming Back To Philadelphia For Event In September

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Many people said it was one of their favorite parts of Pope Francis' visit to Philadelphia last year, and the city has announced it will be coming back this September.
It's being called Philly Free Streets, and on September 24th the city is blocking off more than 8-miles of streets to all vehicular traffic.
It was quite the sight last September as visitors roamed freely around Philadelphia without any cars or buses buzzing about.
Philly Free Streets will run the entirety of South Street, starting at Spruce Street Harbor Park all the way to the South Street Bridge. It will also cover the Schuylkill River Trail to Martin Luther King Drive, and up to the Plateau.
Activities and family friendly fun will be planned all throughout the closed off area. However organizers say volunteers and donations are needed to make the event a success.
