Bucks County's New, $86-Million Justice Center Taking Shape

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- Bucks County's new Justice Center continues to rise across the street from the courthouse in Doylestown, with officials saying the new building is now scheduled to open in mid-January.
Construction crews continue working on the six-story building that will house the county's justice system.
More than five hundred county employees will call the building home. On a clear day there are striking views of the Philadelphia skyline.
Today, reporters were given a walking tour of the building, which features state-of-the-art security and technology, LED lighting, radiant (heated) flooring, and, according to operations director Jerry Anderson, some things uniquely Bucks.
"We tried to make the building -- as you can see from the terra cotta on the outside, the brick and the stone -- for a huge building, kind of fit into the borough," he explained. "We have a lot of Mercer tile going into the building."
The building also pays homage to the history of Doylestown by incorporating the Armory complex, which dates back to 1909.
The 285,000-square-foot center is the largest capital project in county history, coming in with an $86-million price tag.
