Beachgoers Head Home From Jersey Shore As Holiday Weekend Comes To End

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- Beachgoers were leaving the Jersey shore Sunday and heading back home as the Fourth of July holiday weekend wrapped up.

At the Farley Service Plaza along the Atlantic City Expressway, many travelers who hit the road early in the day said their commute back home was a smooth one.

"Traffic has not been bad. "We left a little earlier than usual because of everyone coming from the Fourth of July."

Many of the parents riding with their kids, however, agreed that other drivers are just part of their concern -- they had to make sure their passengers were entertained.

"We've been playing her (music) CDs in the car and playing different games, like seeing different cars go by, different colors."

"Sometimes we play the A-B-C game. We try to find something that starts with A, starts with B. Most of the time they're not interested in that, though. They're more interested in playing (video games) on their (tablets)."

AAA Mid-Atlantic estimated that more than 41 million people were driving to and from their destinations this weekend.
