Authorities Investigate Suspicious Package After Plastic Bottles Depressurize In Delaware Stadium

WILMINGTON, Del (CBS) – Authorities are investigating a suspicious package found in a parking lot in Wilmington.

The package was discovered in the north lot of Frawley Stadium after multiple plastic bottles containing chemicals depressurized on the field.

Around 11:15 a.m., officers responded to the stadium for reports of several explosions.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team preliminarily determined that unknown suspects threw plastic bottles containing chemicals onto the field and the bottles then depressurized.

The stadium was not occupied during the incident and there was no reported damage to any buildings.

While conducting a sweep, officers found a bag containing suspicious items in the north parking lot of Frawley Stadium. The lot is closed to traffic while an authorities continue to investigate.

No evacuations have been ordered at this time.
