Atlantic City Targets Philadelphians in Upcoming Tourism Ad Campaign

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- A new advertising campaign is being launched on Wednesday to draw more visitors to Atlantic City.

Liza Cartmell, with the Atlantic City Alliance, which is launching the ad campaign, says the specific target audience is Philadelphia.

"Despite the news about the casino closings, Atlantic City is very, very busy," she notes.  "We have had an incredibly successful summer, and it's very important that people remember that Atlantic City still draws 25 million people a year."

She says gambling revenue was down, but not tourism.

"Over the entire summer we had occupancy rates in the hotel properties roughly around 95 percent for the entire summer," she tells KYW Newsradio.

Cartmell says the TV, radio, and print ads will point to entertainment, shopping, fishing and of course the boardwalk, to entice visitors to the AC shore.
