Atlantic City Fining Powerless Revel Casino $5,000 Daily

ATLANTIC CITY (CBS) -- The new owner of what was the Revel Hotel Casino in Atlantic City hasn't had the keys for a week yet and already he's facing major issues with the property.
The power's off, the city is fining him and most people are being kept out of the place until the juice is restored.
The owners of the adjacent power plant shut off service to its only client in a dispute over the bill, which hasn't been paid for months. That stops the fire suppression system from working and that's a safety issue.
Chris Filiciello is Chief of Staff to Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian. Developer Glenn Straub is facing $15 grand in fines as of Friday and that goes up $5 grand a day.
"Until the power is restored and the life safety operational systems are fully functioning."
That could take a couple weeks, according to a Straub spokesman, because they're in the process of putting generators in place.
In addition, the city has revoked the facility's certificate of occupancy. They'll have to apply for a new one when power is restored.
