PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- This is a very strange time of year if you suffer from allergies.

The weather is changing and the temperatures, well, they are delightful, but despite the wonderful environment there is a downside.

For allergy sufferers it can be a troubling time. Outdoor allergens are problematic as well as problems with mold. Add to this the fact that many people are starting to turn on heat on an occasional basis, the symptoms of post nasal drip and coughing become more widespread.

If I haven't said enough there is another big factor to consider. The kids are back to school and any one of dozens of viral infections could be spread in the classroom and brought home to you and the family. There is good news.

Although the symptoms can be annoying it is rare that the symptoms last more than a week. Of course don't hesitate to reach out to your physician if needed.
