AG Defends Length Of Probe Into Length Of Sandusky Probe
HARRISBURG (CBS) -- Attorney General Kathleen Kane is defending the length of her investigation into Tom Corbett's probe of Jerry Sandusky. She issued a statement this week explaining delays.
Kane has been attorney general for more than a year and now finds herself in the position of explaining why her office is taking so long to investigate why another investigation took so long. Franklin and Marshall College political analyst Terry Madonna says as Kane's probe continues, it ratchets up the pressure for her to deliver a report with conclusive findings...one way or the other. Anything less than definitive findings, Madonna says, could make the timing of the report a major issue. For example:
"The report issued during the fall will be a time bomb," he says. "I mean, it will be explosive."
Kane says "certain factors have combined to slow the process," including challenges in retrieving emails and other documents. Her spokesman said in an email that the office would have no comment beyond a written statement it released.
