A Delco School Cheers Its Contestant on 'The Voice,' Right To The Bitter End

PROSPECT PARK, Pa. (CBS) -- A Delaware County contestant on "The Voice" has been eliminated from the NBC reality TV show, but those at her former high school believe she'll go far in the music industry anyway.

Contestant Audra McLaughlin didn't make it to the championship on "The Voice," but she's still a winner in the eyes of those at her alma mater, Interboro High School.

Student activities coordinator Andy Costanzo worked with her through student council shows, "which could drive you nuts," he recalls. "People wouldn't show up for practice. But Audra was always reliable, on time, plus tremendously talented."

He says the whole community watched her performances on "The Voice," as well as seeing her eliminated from the show.

"We were disappointed. I know I was," Costanzo says.

(Kuznits:) "You think she got robbed?"

(Costanzo:) "Yes, I do. I mean, the kid with the cowboy hat? Come on."

Costanzo says they did what they could to support Audra.

"We would put signs around the school: 'Call this number,' 'tweet this number.' "

And while she didn't win the whole thing, she believes she'll have a musical career.

In addition, says Costanzo, "It was a great spirit-building kind of thing for the school."
