$500K Job Training Program Launches In Camden

By Justin Udo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The state of New Jersey creates a job training program in Camden to prepare residents for jobs coming into the city.

The new $500,000 initiative has multiple parts geared towards people looking to work in a variety of trades.

"One is a pre-employment training program to help prepare people for jobs with four different companies that are growing in Camden," says New Jersey Deputy Labor Commissioner Aaron Fitchner. "The second is a pre-apprenticeship program that would prepare people for jobs in construction."

Fitchner says part of the program will be run by the Camden County College.

"It's a great win to help people in Camden connect to job opportunities through very customized and targeted training programs," he says.

Fitchner says any Camden employers or residents interested in learning more about the program should contact the Camden Mayor's office.
