5 Knee-Jerk Reactions To The 2015 Eagles Schedule
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- It's astonishing.
It amazes me that two networks---NFL Network and ESPN---broadcast two-hour shows on the NFL schedule release where human beings predict each team's record on April 21st, nine days before the draft. And it amazes me even more, that we (myself included) watch it.
We're all suckers. So now, it's my turn to make ridiculous predictions. You better read it too.
Here are five knee-jerk reactions to the Philadelphia Eagles 2015 favorable schedule.
5. Eagles blow-out Falcons on Monday night to open season
The Falcons, with first-year head coach Dan Quinn, have arguably the worst defense in the NFL. The Birds have won their last four regular-season openers and six of their last seven, including Chip Kelly's opener on Monday Night in Washington.
Only bad thing about this game is we have to wait an extra day. Eagles win, 31-14.
4. Eagles will head into their Week 8 bye undefeated
@ Falcons, vs. Cowboys, @ Jets, @ Redskins, vs Saints, vs. Giants, @ Panthers
Any of those scare you? Me neither.
I understand it's the NFL and you just never know. I understand at the Jets could be a trap game after an emotional home game against the Cowboys, as well as Sunday night at the Panthers (revenge game for them).
I say the Eagles are 5-2 at worst before the BYE, but 7-0 is very possible.
3. Eagles will finish on four-game winning streak to head into the postseason
Although the Eagles will have 10-days rest before the head to New England, at the Patriots is by far their toughest game of the season. We can't expect them to win that one. However, after their potential Week 13 loss at the Pats, the Eagles have three straight home games (Bills, Cards, Skins) and then at the Giants to finish the season.
The Eagles will head into the 2016 Playoffs scorching hot, exactly where they want to be.
2. Week 9 through Week 13 is the tough part
- Week 9: Sun, Nov. 8 @ Cowboys 8:30 p.m.
- Week 10: Sun, Nov. 15 vs. Dolphins 1:00 p.m.
- Week 11: Sun, Nov. 22 vs. Buccaneers 1:00 p.m.
- Week 12: Thurs, Nov. 26 @ Lions (Thanksgiving) 12:30 p.m.
- Week 13: Sun, Dec. 6 @ Patriots 4:25 p.m.
The only sure-win in this slew of games seems to be at home against the Bucs.
At Dallas on Sunday night is always difficult, Miami is expected to be improved, at Detroit on Thanksgiving against Calvin Johnson, and then of course, at the Super Bowl Champions.
Eagles need to go 3-2 during this stretch.
1. Eagles finish 12-4, en route to a playoff birth
Losses: at Cowboys, vs. Dolphins, at Patriots, at Giants
