Man Killed, Woman Injured In Bronx Crash

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was killed and a woman was injured in a crash in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx Monday.

Police were called around 5:20 a.m. to East 222nd Street and Bronxwood Avenue. They learned that Ricardo Gayle, 31, of East Harlem, was headed west on 222nd Street when he crossed into the eastbound lanes and hit an empty, parked sport-utility vehicle, police said.

Gayle then struck three more parked and unoccupied cars near the intersection with Bronxwood Avenue, police said.

Gayle was pronounced dead at Montefiore Medical Center, police said. A 23-year-old woman who had been in the vehicle with him was rushed to the same hospital, where her condition was stable with a head injury, police said.

The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad was investigating.
